RPG Maker MV Player Releases Six New Sample Games By Contest Winners

RPG Maker MV Player is the latest title in the long-running RPG Maker series. RPG Maker isn’t a game in itself but is a tool that non-programmers can use to design their own games.

The title includes several pre-made assets, but the growing community also contributes content.

Developed by Kadokawa and published by Degica, the game is available on Steam, PlayStation 4, and the Nintendo Switch.

Kadokawa recently released six games that were chosen among the RPG Maker community. These titles are now available as “sample games,” which players can enjoy to test out the product.

Six games can be played on PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch:
Azure Arsonist, by Terunon, is a gun-based action shooter without RPG combat. Gamers will fight to discover the hidden mysteries of the desolate town, Dunes.

Grand Sunset by Sintani Kazuho features RPG with a traditional “good versus evil” story with a twist. Long after the defeat of the Demon King at his castle, the location has become a popular tourist spot. An appurtenance, who also cares for his sickly grandmother, heads to the harbor to greet the tour guests.

In A Lottery of Destruction by Photoshop Professional, the player participates in a shady lottery only to awaken in a strange new world. The player will have to recover their missing memories and figure out how to return home.

Complete Perfect Game Momotaroando by Shitsudo Kei features a protagonist who intended on slaying a Demon King but was defeated. His powerful tools were scattered across the world, which turned animals into “Anima” or beasts.

New Lands Memoir by Doraku is a game where players control multiple armies to capture the dungeon. There are numerous secrets and traps on the map. With the help of many friends, the secrets begin to unravel.

The Liar’s Noblesse Oblige a story about a pair of siblings who were cursed with bad luck who go on an adventure to recover their lost items. They can travel the map, choose different dialogue, and enjoy multiple endings are depending on the player’s choices.

Kadokawa also announced a Beginners Course for those playing RPG Maker MV Player for the first time. The class is an 11 course with 135 pages of material with easy-to-understand content.

The Witcher Showrunner Explains Why Henry Cavill Landed Geralt Of Rivia Role In Netflix Series

We’re now a little under a month away from the first season of Netflix’s The Witcher, which is currently scheduled to be released late next month.

Like with any film or television adaptation of a beloved book series, fans of the original story want the on-screen adaptations to have choice casting, which, unfortunately, isn’t always the case. But, at least with Henry Cavill, who is playing the role of Geralt of Rivia, it looks like Netflix found the right person for the job.

During a recent interview with Men’s Health, showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich explained why Cavill was the right choice for the Geralt role, saying that while she was writing the show, she was constantly hearing the actor’s voice in her head. So, according to her, the right choice was made.

“But all the time I was writing, I kept hearing Henry’s voice in my head,” Hissrich said. “In the books, Geralt is fearsome, but he also has this amazing dry wit. We needed someone to play both ends of the spectrum, someone who could see all the trauma of the world he’s in but could also step back and roll his eyes once in a while.”

Earlier this month, Netflix revealed that The Witcher had already been renewed for a second season, which means that the streaming service giant believes that they have a massive hit on their hands.

It was recently revealed that the first season of The Witcher will span eight episodes, and earlier this week, Netflix unveiled the episode titles along with a few brief descriptions.

  1. The End’s Beginning: “A monster slain, a butcher named.”
  2. Four Marks: “We look at a sorceress’s earlier days.”
  3. Betrayer Moon: “A picky eater, a family shamed.”
  4. Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials: “The Law of Surprise is how one repays.”
  5. Bottled Appetites: “A fateful meeting, a bard is maimed.”
  6. Rare Species: The hunt for a dragon is underway.”
  7. Before a Fall: “A return to before a kingdom is flamed.”
  8. Much More: “The Witcher Family as you all like to say.”

As of this writing, it’s unclear if each season will span only eight episodes, or if the number of episodes will increase as the show enters future seasons. If it does last for more than two seasons, Hissrich is prepared, as she recently said that she’s already mapped out seven seasons.

Netflix will launch the entire first season of The Witcher on December 20.

Crossfire Is Coming To Xbox In 2020 With A Single-Player Campaign Designed By Remedy

If you are a PC gamer, you’ve no doubt heard of the ultra-popular first-person shooter, Crossfire. Developed by South Korean developers Smilegate Entertainment, Crossfire is a free-to-play military FPS that, since release, has gone on to become one of the most-played first-person shooters in the world.

It’s not surprise, then, that someone would eventually bring the game to consoles, at Microsoft is working with Smilegate Entertainment to do just that. The company recently announced CrossfireX, a brand-new version of the game will be released exclusively on Xbox One in 2020. Not only is the console version of the game going to feature the same great features of the PC version, it’s going to have a whole new slew of game modes and more. Most notably, the game will be getting its first single-player campaign, which is being developed by the masters at Remedy Entertainment.

You may recognize the name, as Remedy has a long history of making incredible story-driven games. The studio is responsible for Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and the recent genre-bending game Control. While the studio is certainly a major force to be reckoned with when it comes to delivering tight, well-written stories, taking on a military-focused first-person shooter seems like the last thing the studio would be involved in.

As it turns out, SmileGate’s Technical Art Director Jin Woo Jung is a huge fan of Remedy’s work, and when the studio was deciding on who to approach for their single-player campaign, Remedy was the first choice. Remedy, of course, jumped at the chance to be a part of one of the biggest games in the world, even if it is a bit outside of their comfort zone. The original Crossfire has been out since 2007, and the developers have worked hard over these past twelve years to build up their world and the characters in it, leaving Remedy a lot of behind-the-scenes lore to work with.

Crossfire is about what you’d expect from a military FPS. Featuring two major factions, Global Risk and Black List, who are involved in a never-ending war, the game has a dozens of different game modes to play across dozens of maps. There are the classic modes like Free-For-All and Team Deathmatch, as well as crazier modes like Cops & Robbers, which has one team of cops trying to uncover the robbers who are hidden among a team of bots. As you level up and earn in-game currency, you can unlock a variety of new weapons and equipment to bring into battle.

CrossfireX is currently slated for release sometime in 2020 on Xbox One.

Star Citizen Receives New 20 Vs. 20 Mode Theatres Of War – Announced During Citizen Con 2949

Citizen Con 2949 took place this weekend, and the developers, Cloud Imperium Games, released a lot of thrilling information about Star Citizen.

Currently, Star Citizen is in Alpha 3.7 right now. Whenever a new feature is developed, it’s been added to the alpha mode for players to try out and give feedback.

One of the big announcements was the introduction of a new 20 vs. 20 multiplayer mode called Theatres of War.

Here is the Theatres of War trailer revealed at Citizen Con 2949.

“Theatres of War is a brand new objective based game mode within Star Machine where the key focus is the use of combined arms.”

The scenario features the infamous gang ‘The Supreme’ battling an elite Advocacy squad. The setting of Theatres of War is a stronghold for The Supreme, and Advocacy wants to remove them from it.

The Supreme would rather destroy it all, then turn the base over to Advocacy. The gang will do this by activating a mining laser that is orbiting in space.

This mode features three phases that will have players competing via FPS, land vehicle battles, and space fighting. All these phases are played seamlessly to accomplish the main objective.

The first phase is a classic team-based first-person shooter match. Players will work together, navigating through bunkers, landing strips, and other cosmic infrastructure while on the ground.
The goal is to take over a base and disable its anti-aircraft turrets.

The second phase features teammates using vehicles and driving around the map, taking out their enemies, as well as utilizing FPS mechanics. Players will use different vehicles to attack the opposing team, including ground tank-like machines to flying, and highly agile vehicles. Teams will focus on the primary objective as well, destroying a radar tower.

Phase three will bring in the space ships. Players will use these ships to bring down the other team’s ships as well as taking down a mining laser. Gamers will take flight and enter space, and will do everything they can, by vehicle or foot, to complete the objective.

These three phases will load seamlessly during gameplay.

For those that are worried that this has taken developers away from finishing the game, do not fret. Theatres of War is the product of balancing that Cloud Imperium has been working on for FPS, land vehicles, and space ships. The development was already there, so they were able to make this game mode rather fast!

It will be interesting to see how well Theatre of War plays in the current alpha mode Star Citizen is in.

World Of Warcraft: Battle For Azeroth Receives Guilds And Communities Finder Along With Hot Fixes

Blizzard has just launched a glorified job board on World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. It’s called the Guilds & Communities Finder, and gamers can find it by pressing the default hotkey ‘J.’

WoW players will be able to use this menu to search for guilds and communities. This is a pretty great feature that Blizzard has brought into the game. It will streamline guild recruiting, especially for the more serious PvE and PvP guilds.

Gamers will be able to search for the elements that they are looking for in a guild or community.

A WoW player can also look for a specific size of a guild. Maybe a player wants to find a smaller guild to develop more personal relationships, or a bigger guild to have the ability to partake in end-game content.

Class-roles can also be searched as well. Players can check to see what guilds are recruiting their particular class.

This menu is like a glorified job board. Guilds will post in this engine what they’re looking for to bring value to their guild. Maybe it’s a hardcore raiding guild that plays weeknights, and they need a Mage. They can now use this feature for advertising just that.

The guild will choose a recruitment officer, and that person oversees posting. The posting will require an application from hopeful players, and the officer will either sift through applications or turn on the auto-accept option.

This is an exciting thing for the hardcore guilds out there. Instead of spamming different chats, they can use the Guilds & Community Finder. The application element will allow a player to let guilds know their specialization, as well as write whatever they want in a note.

The Golden Joystick’s PC Game of the Year WoW Classic received a few hotfixes, as well as Battle for Azeroth’s Achievements and WoW’s 15th Anniversary.

Achievements
• Players with multiple accounts will see the Mecha-Done achievement on each one when it’s completed.
